— Rick Hall founded FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Ala., and worked his magic to create a signature Southern sound and launch a string of hits dating back to the 1960s. At FAME, Hall produced career-defining records by Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Wilson Pickett, but those successes came after a humble upbringing in a poor, rural area of Alabama.
