SCOTT SIMON, HOST:
And again this morning, the news we're following is of American, British and French airstrikes on targets within Syria, all in response to the suspected chemical attack last weekend in a suburb of Damascus. The strikes were conducted against three targets, reportedly. Defense Secretary Mattis called last night's attacks precise and says they were confined to chemical weapons-type targets, as he called them.
President Trump has suggested, however, that more action by America, Britain and France could be on the way. We have continuing coverage today - an analysis of the strikes here on NPR, including a Pentagon briefing in the next hour, so please stay with us.
