Hometown: São Paulo, Brazil

Genre: Global

Why We're Excited: You can pin Bixiga 70's members down on a world map — they live in São Paulo. But their sound stretches thousands of miles beyond: to roots in West Africa and to countless beer-sodden stomping grounds for funk and soul and all manner of music made for frenzied dancing. On Quebra Cabeça, the 10-piece instrumental band blares out an explosive, hyper-rhythmic blast of Afro-Brazilian jams that inspire movement in every moment.
