Genre: Rock

Why We're Excited: Sidney Gish was a college student working as an intern at a record label — where her job was to identify rising stars — when her own self-released music started popping up on the label's radar, earning her a bemused call from her boss. Ever since, Gish's national profile has grown considerably, thanks to a string of increasingly assured releases and a tour opening for Mitski. Shaggy, homemade songs like "Where the Sidewalk Ends" exude clever, decidedly homemade charm, but also real songwriting chops.
