Thousands of votes poured in from our listeners in our annual year-end poll to find the year's 20 most-loved albums. After the smoke cleared, the ones that rose to the top sent a clear message: Love, in all its various forms, rules. From Lizzo's Cuz I Love You and Ariana Grande's Thank U, Next to Brittany Howard's Jaime and Carly Rae Jepsen's Dedicated, much of the music that resonated most with listeners celebrated defiant joy in the face of adversity, healing, pride and empowerment.
Listeners also embraced artists who completely changed their sound, like Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten, with steadfast support for veteran bands like Vampire Weekend, The National and Bon Iver.
You can hear us count down the top 20 albums with the blue "listen" button at the top of the page. You can also view the list below and hear full songs representing each album with our Apple and Spotify playlists.
