Drive-By Truckers spent much of their early years making high-spirited, good-time country music. But the band's latest album, The Unraveling, is a weighty, social and political commentary on an America plagued by addiction, crushing debt and a morass of misplaced priorities. We open this week's show with "Armageddon's Back In Town." We've also got new music from Kesha, the mind-bending guitarist Rafiq Bhatia, British folk singer Sam Lee, Torres and much more. NPR Music's Ann Powers, Lyndsey McKenna, Marissa Lorusso and Stephen Thompson join host Robin Hilton as they share their picks for the best new albums out on Jan. 31.
