World War II Veteran Receives 70,000 Valentines From Around The World
STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:
Good morning, I'm Steve Inskeep. Major Bill White is a Marine Corps veteran in Stockton, Calif. He fought in Iwo Jima in World War II, was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart. At age 104, he loves scrapbooking, so a friend invited people on social media to send him valentines. It's not quite Valentine's Day, but he does have enough cards for the scrapbooks. Reuters reports he received 70,000 cards.
