At a time when every day can feel the same, I'm hoping that this is the day you'll discover someone new.

On this edition of All Songs Considered, I play some great unknowns to broaden your musical tastes. There's Asher Gamedze's calming spiritual jazz from South Africa, a sensuous song from singer Lou Canon, which she hopes will help you truly see your and your partner's desires. Nashville-based singer Liza Anne often writes songs dealing with mental health; on "Bad Vacation," she casts away the parts of her life that bring her down. Trespassers William were a couple making music together, then broke up and disbanded. Now their musical partnership has reunited virtually for their first song in eight years.

I've also got music from Katie Von Schleicher, a New York-based artist whose song "Brutality" draws inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo.

And you may not know Muzz, but if you've ever heard Interpol (Paul Banks) or The Walkmen (Matt Barrick) or Bonny Light Horsemen (Josh Kaufman) you've listened to work by one of the members of this trio. If you love The National, then Muzz's song "Red Western Sky" may brighten your day.
