It's hard to sum up the latest album from The 1975 in a few words. But suffice to say, Notes On A Conditional Form is a long, sprawling thrill ride that bursts in a thousand different directions at once – raging punk rock one minute, contemporary classical the next. Or thumping dance-floor EDM, followed by euphoric pop. We kick this week's show off by trying to make sense of this brilliant, messy masterpiece. We've also got one of the best albums yet from the folk veterans Indigo Girls, the return of The Airborne Toxic Event, Owen Pallett and more. Host Robin Hilton is joined by NPR Music's Ann Powers, Sidney Madden and Stephen Thompson as they share their picks for the best albums out on May 22.
