Expressive might be the perfect way to describe Christine and the Queens. Sure, it's apparent in her avant-garde music and the way she communicates complexities through dance, but also in everyday conversation. I spoke to Christine and the Queens – who also says you can call her Chris – a few weeks ago, and even through a medium like online video chat, her energy is electric. One moment she's deep in thought, the next she's positively bursting with creativity, carried away by a runaway train of thought.

Over the last few years, that creativity has delivered two full-length albums, as well as her new EP and short film, La Vita Nuova. That latest work explores her journey through a very difficult year, which saw, among other things, the death of her mother. Today you'll hear my conversation with Chris, as well as live performances previously recorded in Paris. Listen in the player above.
