Taylor Swift has surprised fans with a brand-new record made in quarantine. Folklore is a largely melancholy, introspective and wistful collection of 16 songs produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, Jack Antonoff and Swift. Don't expect any bangers, but do expect a lot of deep reflection, gorgeous string and piano arrangements and a startling collaboration with Bon Iver. We kick off this week's show listening to the song "Seven" and offer a few early thoughts on this eighth studio full-length from Swift.

Also, on the show: A brilliant collection of Motown classics remixed, the rapper Lupe Fiasco collaborates with Kaelin Ellis, Roberta Flack has a remarkable, 50th anniversary edition of her debut album, First Take, singer Courtney Marie Andrews and a whole bunch more. WBGO and Jazz Night in America's Nate Chinen joins Radio Milwaukee's Tarik Moody, XPN's Culture Cypher Radio host John Morrison, and NPR's Ann Powers and Stephen Thompson, along with host Robin Hilton, as they share their picks for the best new albums out on July 24.
