On this edition of All Songs Considered, I talk with Kurt Vile about meeting John Prine and recording "How Lucky" for Kurt's new EP. I also speak with Peter Silberman, best-known for his project, The Antlers. This conversation is about writing music for Malcolm Gladwell's audiobook, Talking To Strangers.
There are also some great harmonies on this episode, first from Fleet Foxes' fourth album, Shore, and then from Darlingside. We learn about the challenges of harmonizing long distance. Shamir has a new album that includes a song with some surprising country flavor. I've also got new music from Told Slant. The project of Felix Walworth — also known as the drummer for Bellows, Gabby's World, and Florist — has a bedroom recording with a reflective and powerful spirit.
