The funk legend's latest album is called The Power of the One. That title comes from a simple but powerful musical trick he learned from James Brown — a trick he then introduced to George Clinton. Collins also explains what "the One" is all about, and has stories galore to share: From buying his first guitar (thanks to his childhood newspaper route), to his time playing with Brown and later Clinton in Parliament/Funkadelic, to how he continues to "stay funky."
Collins also sent us some tracks from his archives that you'll hear. But we start off with "Stargate" from his new album. a song that features a bevy of special guests: Victor Wooten, Bela Fleck, EmiSunshine and Dr. Cornell West.
