After spending the past few years making guest appearances for other artists like Hayley Williams, Mary Lambert and Becca Mancari – and after releasing a couple of records as Boygenius (with Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus) – Julien Baker is back with a stunning new solo album. Little Oblivions chronicles the missteps in life that can fill you with regret but also (hopefully) help you grow and be better. We kick off this week's show by listening to the song "Highlight Reel" and talk about the bright spots on an otherwise downcast collection of songs about addiction and recovery.

We've also got the contorted pop of producer Jimmy Edgar, a stirring collection of modern protest songs from Chris Pierce, the blood-slowing sounds of A Winged Victory For The Sullen and more. Nate Chinen of WBGO and Jazz Night In America joins contributor Christina Lee, Radio Milwaukee's Tarik Moody, WXPN's John Morrison and NPR's Marissa Lorusso and Tom Huizenga, along with host Robin Hilton, as they share their picks for the best new albums out on Feb. 26.
