On this edition of All Songs Considered, we honor two great songwriters and poets, Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake. The sisters from Stockholm known as First Aid Kit performed Leonard Cohen's song "Famous Blue Raincoat as part of a 20-song album titled Who By Fire. The artist known as Skullcrusher penned a song titled "Song for Nick Drake," having immersed herself in his music and found a bond with someone she's never met, yet still feels close to.

I also have a conversation with Rhiannon Giddens about an album she made in her adopted home of Ireland with her musical partner Francesco Turrisi. The song "Avalon," from their album They're Calling Me Home, explores how this native of North Carolina and her partner from Italy define home and search for home comforts in food and music.

We also hear from Jay Som and Palehound and their gritty new project called Bachelor. The artist known as Wallice explores the awful side of too many men in a humorous takedown titled "Hey Michael." The band from Grand Rapids known as Major Murphy explores doubt and cynicism while trying to learn yoga and teach his two-year-old how to breathe through their nose, while the Denmark band Iceage explores redemption.
