We've watched thousands of 2021 Tiny Desk Contest entries. Now, it's time to highlight our favorites as we get closer to picking a winner: Welcome to Tiny Desk Contest Top Shelf!

Every week, one of our Tiny Desk Contest judges joins us to play the videos that knocked them out. You're going to see talent you've never seen. And we'll invite some of our favorites on the show to talk about their entries.

For this episode of Top Shelf, we're joined by our 2020 Tiny Desk Contest winner: Linda Diaz. Diaz is also a judge for this year's Contest. Her Top Shelf selections include a gleeful performance by R&B singer and bassist Mamii, Alisa Amador's song that masterfully articulates difficult pandemic-induced feelings, Yosmel Montejo's energetic entry that finds a sweet spot between Latin jazz and modern Cuban music, a song by Allison Mahal that Diaz calls "millennial country" and Lilith Ai's ode to motherhood. Plus, featured entrant Yosmel Montejo joined us to talk about the development of his musical style and the joy of collaborating with his band.

This is our last episode of Tiny Desk Contest Top Shelf this year. Watch this space, though — we'll be announcing this year's winner soon. If you want to be the first to hear about the winner, sign up for the Tiny Desk Contest newsletter.
