R&B singer Brent Faiyaz has always cared deeply about the gulf between the haves and the have-nots. On his latest album, Wasteland, the producer and philanthropist reflects on the darker sides of fame and considers the true price of wealth.

We've also got an epic, stirring new album from Metric this week called Formentera, named after the island the band members dreamed of escaping to during the pandemic, a meditative instrumental record about gratitude from producer Apollo Brown, a debut album from pop singer renforshort and more. WBEZ and Vocalo Radio's Ayana Contreras joins contributors Christina Lee and Cyrena Touros, along with Radio Milwaukee's Tarik Moody and host Robin Hilton to share their picks for the best albums out on July 8.
