I have some very special collaborations on this week's All Songs Considered, beginning with Plains, the music of Waxahatchee's Katie Crutchfield and songwriter and singer Jess Williamson. They both grew up listening to classic country music and that shapes the sound of their upcoming album, I Walked With You A Ways.
Ali Farka Touré is a legendary musician from Mali and one of the creators of what is called the desert blues sound. Now his son, Vieux Farka Touré has teamed up with the Texas band Khruangbin for an album dedicated to Ali Farka Touré, simply called Ali.
Hermanos Gutiérrez is the musical project of brothers Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez. The two guitarists make music reminiscent of the sounds you might hear in a Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. They've teamed up with Dan Auerbach for an album called El Bueno Y Malo.
John Rossiter and his project, Young Jesus has teamed up with Tomberlin — in yet another collaboration on this week's show — for a song called "Ocean."
Jennifer Furches, for her project Spring Summer, collaborated with Warpaint's Jenny Lee Lindberg and an album called T.E.A.R.S. And dodie puts out her first song for 2022, inspired by a date and a kiss with a girl that "Got Weird."
