On this edition of All Songs Considered, two drummers from legendary bands have new albums. Radiohead's Philip Selway has a new record called Strange Dance and it's a heavily textured affair. You'll hear the first track released called "Check For Signs Of Life." Bill Berry, the drummer for R.E.M. has a new project with fellow Athens, Ga. musician Mike Mantione from the band Five Eight called The Bad Ends. The song I'll play from their 2023 album Power and the Glory is called "Thanksgiving 1915."

I first heard Among Authors when they submitted their 2018 Tiny Desk contest entry. We then invited them to play at a Tiny Desk event with KEXP in Seattle, and I was so knocked out by their performance I invited them to play at my desk. They have a sound reminiscent of Philip Selway's band Radiohead. Among Authors' new song is a very personal one for singer Ian Ketterer, who was born minus a right thumb and ear.

The Irish singer Lisa O'Neill has a stunning song that lyrically incorporates the wind, the birds, and the world surrounding her. And my final pick is from the long-running power trio Yo La Tengo which has its 16th and awesome guitar-driven album This Stupid World coming in February 2023. I end the show with the song "Fallout."
