In memory of beloved NPR Books Editor Petra Mayer, her parents have chosen to establish the Petra Mayer Memorial Fund for Internships. This dedicated fund will support internships with NPR's Culture Desk, helping to develop passionate journalists who – like Petra – can inspire audiences with a love of learning, passion for books, and dedication to sharing stories that matter. It is our hope that with additional support, this fund may become a permanent endowment at NPR.

Friends and colleagues throughout the industry remember Petra's brilliant intellect, boundless curiosity, and dedication to sharing great books with the world. In this spirit, NPR is proud to steward the Petra Mayer Memorial Fund for Internships, supported by, and in service of, the community whose hearts and minds have been brightened by Petra's presence.
