NPR Music Presents #AskKelisNPR On 4/14

One-Hour Twitter Q&A, First Listen Stream of New Album, 'Food'

April 8, 2014; Washington, D.C. – International pop star. Certified saucier. Soulful R&B singer. However you know her, Kelis Rogers is back, and NPR Music is offering fans everywhere exclusive access to the artist and her new music before its release next week. On Monday, April 14, NPR Music invites audiences to press play on the First Listen stream of Kelis' new album, Food, and join in a live listening party and Twitter Q&A with the artist. The one-hour event - #AskKelisNPR - begins at 4:00PM ET/1:00PM PCT on Twitter and at

Kelis herself will host the group listening session, sharing thoughts and insights about each track as the album plays through from start to finish. While listening to the album, the crew from NPR's R&B channel I'll Take You There will serve up audience questions and queries of their own via @NPRandB, and Kelis will respond from @iamkelis. Fans can submit questions by tagging posts #AskKelisNPR, and follow the entire event on Twitter and at the NPR Music.

Kelis previewed a selection of soulful tracks from her forthcoming sixth album, Food, for the first time in March as part of NPR Music's SXSW Showcase at Stubb's. A video of her performing the song "Breakfast" along with an audio stream of the full set are available now.

Beginning Monday, April 14, Food will be available in its entirety for free, on-demand listening as part of the First Listen series, available at and in the NPR Music mobile apps. Next week, NPR Music is also offering free streaming of Death III, a collection of songs from 70's R&B band Death, and Farewell Transmission: The Music of Jason Molina, a tribute album featuring My Morning Jacket and Memorial Electric Co., among others.

NPR Music collaborates with NPR's newsmagazines, public radio Member stations and the passionate NPR community to celebrate great music in every genre. More First Listens are available at and via NPR Music mobile apps, as well as extensive archives of concerts, interviews and reviews of artists from all genres.
