October 16, 2014; Washington, D.C. – For a third year in a row, NPR Music will present a multi-genre lineup for its NPR Music Presents showcase during the CMJ Music Marathon. The event on Wednesday, October 22, at 8:30pm (ET) collects rock and R&B artists on one stage at (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York City. Audiences outside of the club's walls can experience the event live via a video webcast at NPR.org/music.

Fans (18+) planning to be in New York City for the conference have the opportunity to attend the concert. Public tickets to the event are free to reserve and will be distributed exclusively through NPR Music on a first-come, first-serve basis. Starting today, check the All Songs Considered blog and follow @NPRMusic and @NPRandB on Twitter for RSVP information.

Committed to giving audiences the best in live performances, the NPR Music showcase features appearances by the following five acts:

Elle Varner: The Grammy and BET Award-nominated R&B artist arrived on the music scene in 2012 with her debut album, Perfectly Imperfect. The singer/songwriter, who is the daughter of two musicians, will take the stage to perform tracks from her forthcoming sophomore album, 4 Letter Word.

Lia Ices: The singer-songwriter captured a wide audience in 2012 when an episode of HBO's Girls featured a track from her second album. NPR Music presented Ices' latest album – her most eclectic work yet – as a First Listen last month and is now bringing her to the stage to perform it live.

B.J. The Chicago Kid: After singing backup for Mary Mary and Kanye West, writing for Shirley Caesar and trading tracks with Kendrick Lamar, the soul singer released his first studio album in 2012. In an interview this spring, rapper Freddie Gibbs told NPR Music's Microphone Check, "[B.J.] definitely has one of the best voices in the game, period."

Cayetana: The all-female punk trio has been stirring up Philadelphia's music scene this year. Now, just one month after releasing their debut album, Nervous Like Me, the group takes a de(tour) to New York to perform for NPR Music fans everywhere.

Squarespace is the exclusive sponsor of this NPR Music event. The performances on October 22 will be recorded and archived for later viewing at NPR.org/music, where audiences can find videos of Cults, Death Grips, Omar Souleyman, Pusha-T and more performing at NPR Music's 2012 and 2013 showcases during CMJ.

NPR Music collaborates with NPR's newsmagazines, public radio Member Stations and the passionate NPR community to celebrate great music in every genre. Visit NPR.org/music for more live music, as well as extensive archives of concerts, interviews and reviews of artists from all genres.
