His "Ragomania" honors jazz great Eubie Blake and Bolcom's idol George Gershwin. Marin Alsop conducts the Aspen Festival Orchestra. The Grammy Awards William Bolcom Tops Classical Grammy Awards February 9, 2006 William Bolcom's Songs of Innocence and of Experience won the Grammys for best classical album, choral performance, and classical contemporary composition at Wednesday's awards ceremony. Other awards went to the London Symphony and singer Thomas Quasthoff. William Bolcom Tops Classical Grammy Awards Audio will be available later today.
Music News Project Setting Blake's Poetry to Music Now on CD October 19, 2004 In the 1950s, composer William Bolcom began an ambitious project to set the 46 poems in William Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience to music. A massive work, the result premiered in 1984. Now, a recording of Bolcom's work has finally been released. NPR's Jeffrey Freymann-Weyr reports.
