September 11, 2006 • Pianist Wu Han and cellist David Finckel join Fred Child in NPR's Studio 4A for a conversation about the healing power of music. They'll play movements by Rachmaninoff and Brahms — the third movement from Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata in G Minor and the first movement from Brahms' Cello Sonata No. 1.

Han, Finckel, Kawasaki & Polyakin in Aspen

July 20, 2006 • At this summer's Aspen Music Festival, pianist Wu Han and cellist David Finckel open with a short piece by Alexander Borodin. Then, violist Masao Kawasaki and violinist Lev Polyakin join Finckel and Han onstage for the closing movement of the Piano Quartet by William Walton.

A Classical Mother's Day

May 7, 2004 • Since Sunday is Mother's Day, we took the opportunity to talk with a well-known musical mother and her daughter about how they share music. Pianist Wu Han, and her husband, cellist David Finckel, live with their daughter, Lillian, in New York. Lillian is 10 years old and has been playing piano for several years, and she just started playing violin. Fred talks with mother and daughter about their relationship. Then, from a concert at Union College in Schenectady, New York, we hear Lillian's parents play the Cello Sonata No. 4, by Beethoven.
