Do you think being a woman and a musician is different from being a man and a musician? If so, how? Was there a moment that made a difference clear to you?

I find often men start off not respecting the opinions and talents of women musicians..a woman has to hold firm and establish herself-she is not automatically brought into the fold...this is particularly clear in authentic roots scenes, where women are not well accepted...you have to prove you can "keep up with the men"

Did anyone ever give you any valuable advice about making your way in the music industry? What advice would you give to a woman musician just starting out?

Believe in your viewpoint and stick to your vision..your own instincts about the sound you are trying to create are your best path..and practice, practice...and listen to old recordings and new, see what is happened and compare it to the past...
