Idaho's Minnick Just Might Win Again

From the moment he was elected in 2008, in one of the most Republican districts in the nation, Walt Minnick looked destined to be a one-termer. But he could very well win again, and the reason would be similar: the quality of his GOP opposition. In 2008, Bill Sali, the Republican incumbent who won the seat two years earlier with a fraction of the vote in a multicandidate primary, was seen as too controversial even by the most conservative of conservatives. And this year, both the GOP front-runner and the guy he lost to in the primary, state Rep. Raul Labrador, are seen as polarizing. -Ken Rudin
