Otter Not Likely To Be Booted From Seat

Butch Otter (R), elected in 2006, is seeking a second term. Democrats point to the relatively narrow margin Otter won the governorship by four years ago and insist that bodes well for their nominee, Keith Allred, a former Harvard professor who is attempting to assemble a coalition of moderate voters from across party lines. But in his four years as governor, Otter has had more problems with conservatives in the state Legislature than with Democrats. Still, this is 2010, a year when the Democratic name -- especially in rock-ribbed Republican Idaho -- is not considered a plus.
