General Counsel and Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs & Assistant Secretary

Terri Minatra became the NPR General Counsel and Vice President of Legal and Business affairs in 2012. She has served as Assistant Secretary to the Board since 2011. In her role as General Counsel, Minatra manages and directs all legal services for NPR, working with the various business units and project teams to achieve corporate strategy and execute tactics while appropriately protecting the interests of NPR. She previously served as Senior Deputy General Counsel.

Since arriving at NPR in 2010, Minatra has worked to build infrastructure among people and systems in the Office of the General Counsel and across divisions. With more than 29 years of experience, Minatra practiced law in many industries, including technology and entertainment, in a wide variety of substantive practice areas. From 2004-2009, Minatra served as senior counsel at HIT Entertainment, specializing in the company's licensing programs for consumer products and live entertainment events for leading children's brands. Prior to then, she held senior in house positions with EDS, The Southland Corporation and Texas Instruments.

For nine years prior to HIT, Minatra worked as a sole practitioner attorney advising clients in transactional, labor, and employment areas. As Senior Vice President for Business and Legal Affairs at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN, from 1993-1995, Minatra was a key member of a five-person senior management team responsible for crafting and implementing long term strategic plans, as well as management of 24/7 operations. In 1992 and 1993, Minatra worked as an associate focusing on employment, corporate structure, and governance work at Hunter, Smith, and Davis law firm.

A graduate from the University Of Texas School Of Law in Austin, TX, Minatra earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stephens College in Columbia, MO.
