The feature film Fruitvale Station opens Friday in select markets, including the San Francisco Bay area. That's where the subject of the film, Oscar Grant, 22 and unarmed, was shot and killed by a transit police officer in 2009 — sparking violent street protests across Oakland.

In Last Seconds, Pilots Were Correcting Plane's Problems

Federal investigators are piecing together what was happening in the cockpit of Asiana Flight 214 when it clipped a seawall and crashed at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday, killing two people. NTSB Investigators Probe Clues Of Asiana Flight 214 Crash

More details are emerging about the crash of Asiana flight 214 at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday that killed two people. The Boeing 777 jet nearly stalled on its approach to land, and the flight crew tried to take corrective action just seconds before it hit the ground. There's also word the pilot, while having extensive flying experience, had only 43 hours on the 777.

Same-Sex Marriage Opponents Say Battle Isn't Over

The Supreme Court has struck down the federal Defense of Marriage Act and cleared the way for same-sex marriages to begin again in California. Voters passed the ban, known as Proposition 8, in November of 2008 banning same-sex marriage. The court said that the people bringing the appeal did not have legal standing to do so.
