Taking a Tour of the MLK Collection at Sotheby's

Ed Gordon takes a tour of the personal papers and books of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., on display at Sotheby's auction house. The collection, valued at about $30 million, was meant to be auctioned this week. Instead, private donors purchased the collection and will donate it to Morehouse College in Atlanta, the civil rights icon's alma mater.

'Fifth Beatle' Billy Preston Dies at Age 59

Ed Gordon pays tribute to late keyboardist Billy Preston, who died Tuesday at age 59 after a long battle with kidney failure. The Grammy-winning songwriter was once dubbed the "fifth Beatle" and played on many of the group's biggest hit songs. Sci-Fi Author Octavia Butler Dies at 58

Host Ed Gordon remembers science-fiction writer Octavia Butler, who died on Friday at the age of 58. She was the first African-American woman to gain prominence as a sci-fi author. Her first novel, Kindred, released in 1979, told the story of a black woman who travels back in time to save a white man.
