
Tim Mak
Investigative Correspondent
Tim Mak is an Investigative Correspondent for NPR.
His reporting interests include campaign politics, national security and the role of emerging technologies.
Mak arrived in Kyiv on the night the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine began, and spent the following year closely covering the war. He has also reported abroad from Guantanamo Bay, South Sudan, Djibouti, Israel and Hong Kong.
He appears regularly on NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
Before joining NPR, Mak worked as a senior correspondent at The Daily Beast, covering the 2016 presidential elections with an emphasis on national security. He has also worked for the Politico Defense team, the Politico breaking news desk and the Washington Examiner.
Mak graduated with a B.A. from McGill University, where he was a valedictorian.
He is a former U.S. Army combat medic and EMT.
