Anusha Mathur

Intern, National Desk and Washington Desk

Anusha is an NPR intern rotating through the Washington and National Desks. She covers immigration, young voters, and the changing media landscape.

Most recently before joining NPR, she covered climate policy at The Washington Post and young voters during the 2024 presidential election for POLITICO and POLITICO Magazine. In addition to writing digital and print articles, she told stories in a variety of formats, including social video. In 2023, she was a Pulitzer Center fellow and spent over two months reporting on development in rural Panama. She got her start interning at the Flathead Beacon, a local paper in Kalispell, Montana, where she covered rural politics and the environment.

Mathur attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and won the Nora Magid Prize for the graduating senior who, "shows exceptional ability and promise in writing/reporting/editing."

She is originally, and very proudly, from Los Angeles, California.
