Embedded Player Securities and Exchange Commissioner Harvey Pitt today proposed a new, private-sector organization to provide better oversight of the accounting profession. The proposal comes as the auditor of the Enron Corporation, Arthur Andersen, faces a number of lawsuits for its role in signing off on Enron's books. NPR's Emily Harris has a report.
