Embedded Player Once, the SoHo neighborhood in New York City was the home to artists and poets living in a collection of run down, rat-infested, unheated buildings. Now, SoHo is one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in the city. NPR's Karen Michel took a tour of the area, and talked with several people who were there at the very beginning.
