Embedded Player It was during the first Gulf War when Samira al-Khazali -- on the phone from Texas -- told her mother in Baghdad she was safe there and not to worry. Sadly, the home in which her mother lived was bombed and she was killed. To assuage her guilt, Samira returned to Iraq 10 years ago and started a private charity for Iraqi kids. Now her own children say she's abandoned them because of the work Samira is doing to honor her mother's memory. NPR's Emily Harris reports.
