Sarla Chand, 65, of New Jersey, is rescued Thursday by teams from Spain, France, and the Urban Search and Rescue unit from Virginia after being trapped inside the destroyed Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Chand, who was in very good condition, had been trapped inside the building since its collapse after the earthquake struck Haiti Tuesday afternoon.
U.S. soldiers arrive at the Port-au-Prince international airport on Friday. The U.S. Army took over operations at the airport, which has suffered from major bottlenecks as flights with rescue teams and relief supplies have descended in the wake of Tuesday's earthquake.
