With dishes like red bean hummus and pimento cheese hushpuppies, the Fort Worth-based chef takes a fresh approach to soul food in a new cookbook, Fix Me A Plate.

Cohen's routine — full of TMI and poking fun at herself — isn't just part of her comic act, it's therapeutic. "If you can't laugh at yourself, then no one else is going to laugh at you, either.
