We just got our hands on a beautifully shot video of The National performing on the Irish TV show Other Voices. The video was filmed earlier this year in the centuries-old St. John's Church in Dingle, Ireland, where the show is taped.

You may never have heard of Other Voices, but you've certainly heard of many of the program's guests. Amy Winehouse, Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle, Florence and the Machine, and many others have all performed on the show.

In recognition of the impact American and Irish music have had on each other, Other Voices is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a special two-night event at New York's Le Poisson Rouge on Oct. 27 and 28.

Other Voices NYC: A Celebration of Music and Literature from Ireland will feature performances by many musicians, including Glen Hansard, Thomas Bartlett, Martha Wainwright and The National's Bryce and Aaron Dessner. Authors Paul Muldoon, Roddy Doyle, Joseph O'Connor and Colum McCann and actor Gabriel Byrne will also do readings at the event. For a full lineup, visit the event's website (linked above).

Bryce and Aaron Dessner's involvement sprang from The National's performance on Other Voices. Fittingly, The National brought a little bit of home with it, performing "Bloodbuzz Ohio" on the show. Take a look at it here:

Philip King, executive producer of Other Voices, told us more about The National's performance and what brought Bryce and Aason Dressner to Other Voices NYC:

The National traveled through rain, hail and snow to Dingle on the southwest Atlantic coast of Ireland for Other Voices last December. From the great stages of the world, they came to raise their voices in the Church of St. James for the 80 pilgrims present. It was a "Bloodbuzz" moment — electric, vigorous and vital. That night I heard America singing. The National "sing the body electric." The notion we were nursing to take Other Voices west out of Dingle to New York City was given some voltage by Bryce and by Aaron and by their tremulous guitars that night, and the current has carried us across the broad Atlantic for Other Voices New York City.
