10 New Ways A Quick Brown Fox Tests A QWERTY Keyboard

Do you recognize the typewritten sentence in the photograph?  Nowadays it is probably used as often as carbon paper and Wite-Out.

It's a pangram — a sentence that uses every letter of the alphabet at least once in as few words as possible. Once upon a time, this easy to remember sentence was used to test manual typewriters to make sure every key worked correctly.

We may not use manual typewriters anymore, but when deciding whether you like the keyboard on your next smartphone purchase, it may come in handy to have some test material ready.

With abbreviations such as OMG and BFF recently added to our lexicon, entirely new sentences embracing new words, phrases, and technology can be created to update this original sentence.

Here are some new pangrams* to try out the next time you come across an unfamiliar keyboard and need to test it out. Choose the one that best fits your personality or interests. And feel free to offer your own suggestions in the comment field!
