Mapping Banned Books In America

Friday marks the end of this year’s Banned Books Week. Sponsored by the American Library Association, the American Society of Journalists and Authors and several other groups, Banned Books Week has documented more than 1,000 books that have been banned our challenged at U.S. schools and libraries since it was first launched in 1982.
To illustrate the geographic distribution of these book bans and challenges, they’ve created a Google Map documenting the location of books that have been impacted over the last three years:
Are you participating in Banned Books Week? If so, what books are you reading and why?
