This Week's ScuttleButton Winner: Steven Cain of Minneapolis, Minn.

It's now official:  Americans -- including the wealthy -- will not see an increase in their taxes for the next two years, in exchange for a continuation of the Friday ScuttleButton puzzles in Political Junkie.

Once again, the American people come away as losers.

The good news, however, is that there is a ScuttleButton puzzle winner to announce.  First, a reminder of what last week's buttons looked like:

Paul Doane Congress -- Doane was the 1980 Republican nominee against Rep. Gerry Studds (D) in Massachusetts' 12th District, losing in a landslide.

Teen-Agers For Stevenson-Kefauver -- The 1956 Democratic presidential ticket.

Defend Our Freedom/Don't Tread On Me/Join the Tea Party -- A key slogan in the 2010 elections.

Tell It To Hanoi -- This slogan was aimed at people protesting the war in Vietnam, saying that instead of blaming Washington they should focus their ire on Hanoi.

And so, when you add Doane + Task + Don't + Tell, you might end up with ...

Don't Ask Don't Tell.  Shorthand for the still-official policy that excludes gays and lesbians from openly serving in the military.

Yes, this was an easy one.  But I was pleased with the buttons that got us there.

Anyway, enough self-congratulations.  This week's winner, chosen completely at random, is (drum roll) ... Steven Cain of Minneapolis, Minn.
