Morning Shots: Tom Bergeron, More 'Justified,' And A Great Gaga Cover

• If you only read one diverting interview today, please make it this terrific discussion with Dancing With The Stars host Tom Bergeron, who, to put it simply, is great. (And yes, he's great and funny even if you don't watch that show, because he knows exactly what the show is and would never try to sell it to you as anything else.) If you don't laugh at the story of his encounter with the TMZ reporter, then you and I have very different senses of humor.

• Those of you reading Moby-Dick with us will note that the new opera about the hunt for the big fish premiered in Dallas on Friday night, and the Washington Post reviewer, anyway, kinda liked it.

• I saw Jesse Tyler Ferguson, now Mitchell on Modern Family, on Broadway a few years ago in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, where he was wonderful and much, much weirder than he is on Modern Family, so to me, seeing video of him covering Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" was much less of a surprise than it was for some. But if you've never seen this side of him, I encourage you to do so now. Because he is amazing.

Critics as bludgeons, a blog moves, and FX issues a welcome renewal, after the jump.

• Maybe if critics keep berating you, more of you will watch Party Down on Starz. Hey, it worked last week. I'm not afraid to keep at it.

• Great example of cable having totally different markers for success — and therefore totally different freedom to renew shows that are great but have smaller audiences: FX yesterday renewed Justified, which has been averaging 3.4 million total viewers. Next to network ratings, that might look puny (though not that puny), but for FX, that's a pretty easy renewal.

• I know some of you are fans of super-excellent TV critic (and my pal) Alan Sepinwall, who recently announced his move from The Star-Ledger to (The rest of you should consider becoming fans.) Today's the day his blog moves, and here's where you find it.
