Juliana Kim is NPR's new weekend reporter, where she will add context to the news of the day as well as bring her enterprise skills to NPR's signature journalism.

She is based in Nashville and is coming to NPR from member station WPLN, where she most recently served as the education beat reporter. Before that, Juliana was a fellow at the New York Times, and her stories included covering the summer 2020 protests after George Floyd's murder and the Atlanta-area spa shootings. She was a key player in the Times' coverage of the spa shootings, connecting with the community as well as the family members of the victims to show their stories.

As we worked to fill this position, Juliana emerged as the clear candidate from the panel round. She bowled us over with her story ideas, her approach to covering communities and her ease with reporting for digital and broadcast. She exemplifies putting into practice the journalism that achieves our North Star goal of reaching diverse audiences.

In her free time, Juliana enjoys volunteering, watching reruns of "Law and Order" and learning how to cook her mother's Korean dishes.
