Hi all,

We are thrilled to announce that Irene Noguchi will be joining NPR as Executive Producer of the Enterprise Storytelling Unit, NPR's home for ambitious long-form narrative storytelling and audio documentaries.

The ESU's award-winning teams produce Embedded, Invisibilia, Rough Translation and Up First Sunday in collaboration with Morning Edition, as well as special limited-run podcasts working with the Investigations unit, member stations, the Content Development Team, and others. In the coming months and years, Embedded, in particular, will become a showcase for enterprise journalism drawn from across the NPR Network and the public media universe.

Irene is a talented and experienced leader with an impressive background covering news, launching and running new podcasts, and managing teams with empathy and excellence.

Most recently, Irene was Executive Producer of the Opinion Audio department at the New York Times, which included The Ezra Klein Show and First Person, among others. Before that, she was Head of Audio at Politico, and also co-launched and oversaw Vox's daily news podcast, Today, Explained.

Irene began her career in audio in public media, working at KQED, KNPR and KUOW. In a previous life, she was a lawyer.

Asked to share something about herself for her future NPR colleagues:

"I've been a lifelong fan of NPR, and loved working at member stations. It's been many moons since my internship on the national desk, and I'm happy to be returning to the DC mothership. I play tennis & hike, noodles are my comfort food, and I'm looking forward to working alongside excellent people and nerding out over sci-fi books and shows."

Irene starts on Monday, November 21st. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming her to NPR!
