We are thrilled to announce that Acacia Squires has been promoted to Senior Editor of the NPR States Team, overseeing the network's coverage of state government, effective immediately.

Acacia single-handedly leads a team that covers 50+ Statehouses nationwide. She has worked tirelessly in this role since the Spring of 2018, building relationships with member station reporters, amplifying voices from across the country and leading the team's digital transformation.

Her team has provided on-the-ground reporting on countless state-level elections and legislative sessions, highlighting critical debates on abortion rights, gun control, voting access and many more issues playing out at the state level that impact millions of Americans.

Acacia's ability to patiently identify, coach and cultivate her team of member station reporters has won her praise from news directors nationwide as well as her colleagues here at NPR HQ. Her commitment to her craft and to the network's mission has transformed her team into a model for other collaborative units across the system.  One email can't do justice to the immense impact she's had on the NPR network, and the public we serve.

Please join me in congratulating Acacia on this well-deserved promotion.
