NPR has two staff photographers — one in Haiti and one en route to Haiti. David Gilkey has sent us his first dispatch from Port-au-Prince, but John Poole has had tougher luck getting there. Poole is currently on the island of Providenciales. Because of the overabundance of planes trying to land in Port-au-Prince last night, it is speculated that his plane nearly collided with another. Oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling, but the plane was diverted safely and landed on Providenciales. Poole and NPR reporter Joanne Silberner are standing for a flight and will be sending us updates from Haiti soon.
