This Week's ScuttleButton Winner: Dave Walker of Wayne, Pa.

For ScuttleButton junkies, an important message to report:

With August being August, and me being me, I am going to be off for a good portion of this month — including, it seems, every Friday through Labor Day.

And Friday happens to be, if you check your calendar, ScuttleButton Day.

So, starting this week ... but only for this month ... ScuttleButton will be appearing in this space on Thursdays.

(And let the record show that I was off last Friday ... but I couldn't go without leaving a new puzzle.)

And what is ScuttleButton, as some novices might ask?

Every week on this blog I offer up a vertical presentation of buttons.  Your task:  Take one word or one concept per button, add 'em up, and arrive at a familiar saying or a name. (Seriously: a saying that people from Earth might be remotely familiar with.) Submit your answer and hope you're the person chosen at random. That's it!

Oh wait. You MUST include your name and city/state to be eligible.

Also, the answer does not necessarily have to be political. For instance, the answer to a puzzle awhile back was "Minnesota Twins" — not political at all, unless you're thinking Mondale and Humphrey instead of Killebrew and Oliva.

Here are last week's buttons, in case you forgot:

Pepper Democrat Congress — Claude Pepper, a south Florida Democrat who focused on seniors, was elected to the House in 1962 (12 years after losing his Senate seat) and served until his death in 1989.

Elect James "Bob" Rhone Assembly / Rockefeller-Javits Team — A New York Republican, he ran and lost in 1962.

Column E / Save Hudson County — A local initiative in northern New Jersey.

For Pete's Sake — Peter Vallone ran in the Democratic primary in the new New York 21st District, which was won by Herman Badillo of the Bronx.  The district also extended to parts of Queens, where Vallone was from.

A — The symbol of the Anarchist Party.

So, when you add Pepper + Rhone + E + Pete's + A, you might end up with ... Pepperoni Pizza.

Trust me, you could end up with worse.

This week's winner, chosen completely at random, is (drum roll) ... Dave Walker of Wayne, Pa.
