Three For Your Weekend: Philadelphia

Each Friday we'll ask someone at one of NPR's member stations to point us toward three great events in their town for the weeekend.

This weekend is a great one for music fans on a budget: if you happen to be in Chicago, the Pitchfork Festival costs just $40 per day, and the Village Voice's Siren Festival at Coney Island on Saturday is free, though you'll have to brave heat and crowds and be willing to subsist on funnel cake and Nathan's hot dogs (you're not allowed to eat anything else at Coney Island; it's a well-known local regulation).

In Philadelphia, member station WXPN has its own festival, XPoNential, all weekend, so it's no wonder that XPN Program Director Bruce Warren has the fest on his mind. Here are his picks.

Rosanne Cash
Saturday at XPoNential Music Festival
Always a consummate performer with a top notch band and a back catalogue of incredible music, Rosanne is very likely to be playing the hits and the deep tracks from her recent album, The List.

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
Sunday at the XPoNential Music Festival
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes are coming off an incredible show and buzz at Bonnaroo and are rolling in to Philly with a show that's all sunshine and happiness and "Up With People" vibes. Get ready to get your hippie jam on on.

JEFF The Brotherhood
Saturday night at Kung Fu Necktie
The two brothers from Nashville bring the noise with metal-stoner rock and power-pop and they're quite the entertainers. Definitely worthy of the blog buzz they've received.
