Rev. Jeremiah Wright is back in the news and once again it's for comments that are controversial, to say the least.
In an interview with the Daily Press of Newport News, Va., President Barack Obama's former minister says this about the likelihood that he'll be talking with the president anytime soon:
"Them Jews ain't going to let him talk to me. ... I told my baby daughter that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office."
The Daily Press has audio of its interview with Wright posted here.
It doesn't sound like the reporter followed up with Wright about exactly who he's referring to, but the pastor goes on at length about the "Jewish vote" that he says is controlling the president.
As you'll likely recall, videos of Rev. Wright saying things like "God damn, America" during his sermons rocked the presidential campaign in early 2008 and led Obama to deliver a major speech on race relations and to condemn Wright's comments. Obama's opponents -- including the woman he chose to be his secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton -- questioned why Obama remained a member of Wright's church for 20 years.
