Reports: Multiple Deaths After Attack At U.S. Compound In Afghanistan
"Eight Americans were killed in an explosion at a U.S. compound in Afghanistan on Wednesday," The Wall Street Journal is reporting. It cites "officials" -- Afghan and U.S. -- as its sources.
The attack happened in Khost Province, in southeastern Afghanistan.
CBS News also says it has been told there were eight fatalities -- and that they were all U.S. civilians.
CNN is reporting there were "an unknown number of American casualties."
Stars and Stripes says:
It was not clear whether American civilians were killed or wounded in the attack, but there were no U.S. military personnel killed, said Col. Wayne Shanks, a spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.
